Organizing system (most important!)

The single most important item that students need for success in middle school is an organizing system that works for them.

Expanding File: We have found that for most students, binders are not the best organizational systems.  But we have found that expanding files (“accordion files”) are easy to use and smaller to carry! They can be found at most stores with school & office supplies. Look for expanding files with at least 7 sections. FYI: fabric expanding files tend to last longer than the plastic style.

• 9x11 Science Notebook
• graph notebook for math
• standard spiral notebook for ELA (language arts)
• standard spiral notebook for social studies

• School planner (provided in Homeroom- $7 donation online) 
• earbuds/headphones 

• colored pencils 
• pencils or mechanical pencils and manual pencil sharpener
• blue/black pens
• Flair Pens (used often for note-taking) 
• eraser(s)
• whiteboard markers 
• protractor
• pencil case or bag to hold supplies

• ruler
