At Dartmouth MS, we are committed to ensuring that every student receives the support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a comprehensive framework designed to meet the diverse needs of all students through a continuum of evidence-based practices.

What is MTSS?

MTSS is an integrated approach that utilizes data-driven decision-making to provide varying levels of support based on student needs. It encompasses three tiers of support:

• Tier 1: Universal Supports

  • High-quality, evidence-based instruction and behavioral support for all students.

  • Regular monitoring of student progress to ensure that the core curriculum is effective.

  • Inclusive practices that promote a positive school climate.

• Tier 2: Targeted Supports

  • Additional interventions for students who are not making adequate progress in Tier 1.

  • Small group instruction or targeted behavioral interventions.

  • Frequent monitoring to gauge the effectiveness of interventions and adjust as necessary.

• Tier 3: Intensive Supports

  • Individualized interventions for students with significant academic or behavioral needs.

  • One-on-one instruction or specialized programs.

  • Continuous progress monitoring and adjustments to interventions based on student response.
